Blown Away Salon was founded in August of 2011 from a leap of faith, deep friendship, and a shared dream of creating something truly meaningful. After years in the corporate world, owner Michelle stepped into entrepreneurship while six months pregnant, joined by her closest friend — who soon discovered she was expecting twins. What followed was a season filled with courage, uncertainty, and immense growth, all guided by trust, love, and unwavering support.

The salon began in a humble 800-square-foot space with just four styling stations, but from the very beginning, Blown Away was never just about hair. It was about people. As lifelong friends joined the team, a family-centered culture began to form — one rooted in honesty, encouragement, and genuine connection.

As the salon grew, so did the vision. After extensive renovations, Blown Away relocated to a 1,500-square-foot space that brought Michelle’s dream to life. This allowed the team to expand to seven styling stations and introduce massage, permanent makeup, facials, and additional spa services. Along the way, the salon welcomed new artists and deepened its commitment to education and mentorship. Family, community, and making the world more beautiful remained at the heart of every decision.

In 2016, Michelle discovered her greatest passion growing people and building careers that last. When the original salon reached capacity, the opportunity to open a second location in Yorktown arose. With faith and excitement, renovations began in early 2020.

Just weeks after opening, the world changed. Faced with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, Blown Away temporarily closed its doors. When the salons reopened in June of 2020, the team returned stronger, more connected, and more committed than ever to their purpose. Through every challenge, the foundation of why people first, always carried the salon forward.

In 2022, Blown Away proudly opened its Williamsburg location, continuing to grow with intention and heart. As the salon family expanded, so did the calling to educate and mentor. In March of 2025, Blown Away Academy opened as a dedicated educational extension of the salon created to support and inspire future beauty professionals while preserving the values built behind the chair.

Later that year, in August of 2025, Michelle made the thoughtful decision to merge the Hayes and Yorktown locations into one expanded salon home. This nearly 6,000-square-foot Hayes location now serves as a central gathering place for guests, artists, and students alike a space designed for connection, growth, and elevated care.

Today, Blown Away Salon is honored to serve its community through multiple locations, a thriving academy, and a team that continues to uplift one another every day. At our core, we remain a family grateful for how far we’ve come and excited for what’s ahead.
